Sowing the seeds

Rob Corbett, of Hydro Engineering & Mapping, distributes 5-month-old oysters on an old oyster bed in the St. Lucie Estuary in Stuart on Friday. Corbett and others re-seeded a quarter-acre site with 8,000 oysters. The work was part of the society's St. Lucie Estuary Oyster Gardening and Restoration project. About two acres will be restored in the first year, with a long-term goal of 50 acres.
